I bought several of these window screens at the same time, and so far I have been pleased. Yes, they are cheaply made, that's why they are so cheap. They function well at letting breeze in without filling your house full of mosquitoes and flies, and you can save a lot of money by not having to turn on the AC very often. That is exactly why I like them.br / I would not expect these window screens to do well at keeping out (or in) ants, cats, dogs, burglars, rain, or rambunctious children, because they simply are not that sturdy.br /

After my last window fan died in a light rain, I needed to find a window fan with a water resistant motor, and this one had a great price. It works really good and has extensions on both sides of the fan so it can fit most windows without any problems. I even forgot to turn it off during a rain and it didn't burn out. (not that you should test this...) br /The only thing preventing this from being a 5 star product is the noise. This fan is by far the loudest fan I've ever owned.

Cons: br /br /1. One big issue. Attempting to actually clean the screens and fan blades of this model is futile. Once the screws are out of my old, now burnt out, Lasco twin fan model, you can easily clean the screens and fan blades. I had so much difficulty prying the screens (back and front covers) open I decided it was engineered to not be opened. Thus, after a few years the fans will be junk long before they burn out.br /br /Pros:br /br /1. Reversible with controls on both sides of the unit.br /2. Great airflow.br /br /Recommendation: I recommend a box fan, unless you don't have room, because you can mount a 20 x 20 filter on the back, using duct tape or installing u-brackets on the back so you can slip the filter into the brackets. These dual fan's are not so easy to adapt to a filter. The filter will significantly reduce the amount of dirt on your screens and fan blades so you only have to clean them every several years, plus it'll cut down on pollen, etc. in your room.
